It doesn’t matter what your path is on your fitness career, everyone has to start by learning the basics.
Learn the basic theory behind fitness classes including leadership, health and fitness, anatomy, physiology, applied movement mechanics, principles of training, Exercise analysis & Risk Management, body composition, Program planning, workout design and basic nutrition. This course will give you the knowledge to proceed to the practical modules.
This course is required in order to take any of the MFC Certification Courses.

Group Fitness Fundamentals
Teaching group fitness requires more than knowledge of the exercises. it requires you to understand and manage the group dynamics of your classes.
This course is required before you can take Group Cycling, Group Sport conditioning, Group Choreography & Step, Tai Chi and Pilates**
A minimum 8 hour course covering topics specific to leading group exercise classes. Topics included are: leadership, trends and media, history, legal responsibility and accountability, class components, music, movement and cueing, developing movement combinations, exercise analysis, and special populations.
Please note that Group Exercise Fundamentals and Designation courses may be taken separately or as a combined offering.

Leaders will learn how to design, modify and instruct safe, effective and appropriate fitness programs to meet the needs of apparently healthy individuals or special populations who have received medical clearance in an aquatic setting.

Children and youth fitness Leader certification
Ever Active Kids provides developmentally-appropriate knowledge, skills and tools, including physical literacy and fundamental movement skills so that you can design safe and effective activity programs for children and youth. This course is excellent for any physical education and exercise professionals, afterschool program coordinator or coach who is interested in leading physical activity programs for children and youth.
This fun, interactive course covers:
- children and adolescent physical development exercise, activity adoption, and adherence
- programming for children; physically, psychologically, socially, morally
- creative program planning and design
- motivation theories
- how to be an exemplary EAK leader
- physical literacy and fundamental movement skills
ANYONE is eligible to take this course, to gain the NCCP coaching certificate.
However, to gain the MFC certification in Children/Youth Fitness, the prerequisite is that you hold an MFC certification.
